Grand Mosque

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. I had the good fortune of seeing it very early in the morning and then again late in the evening. It's a spectacular place. And surprisingly, despite its grandeur, I found such peace and tranquility there. I'm not often stunned by human made structures - I prefer the structures of our natural environment - but I found myself quite at a loss for words in this beautiful place. And in some ways, there is nothing, not even the grandest building, that is separate from our natural environment.

For me, the most powerful experiences in life are ones that create a visceral memory - a way for me to recall the experience not just visually, but experientially. If you ever find yourself in Abu Dhabi, I highly recommend this place.
